Companies and exhibitions visitors are increasingly attentive to the sustainability of events and to the choices made by organizers, many of whom are at the forefront of environmental protection.
360-degree sustainability is a journey that leads event organizers to change in order to mitigate their impact and rely on partners who respect the environment and people.
“We analyzed and measured our carbon footprint through a Life Cycle Assessment study, identifying the critical points of our processes, and made a series of investments aimed at minimizing CO2e,” explains Diletta Ranaldo, Business Developer at Alma. Despite all the efforts made, we are aware that zeroing our impact is not possible. However, what we can do is take full responsibility for the unavoidable emissions.
“For this reason, at Alma, we decided to support one of the environmental projects of the Gold Standard (an international offsetting model that establishes the rules and requirements that all offsetting projects must follow to be certified) to offset the greenhouse gas emissions that cannot be completely reduced but whose impact can be neutralized. For 2024, the initiative concerns all the carpeting destined for the Italian events and fair market with the project for renewable energies 300 MW Solar Plant at Bhadla, which is one of the various initiatives in the solar plant located in the Thar Desert in Rajasthan, India. It is the world’s largest solar park, covering 56 thousand square kilometers. The park contributes to India’s renewable energy goals and helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions by about 4 million tons per year.”
“Promoting the production of renewable energies, which replace fossil fuels in energy provision and reduce CO2e emissions, constitutes a significant contribution to the environment with important economic and social implications in areas of the world where there are insufficient resources to implement these interventions,” continues Diletta Ranaldo. “Sustainability is about creating and maintaining jobs, developing ethical businesses, collaborating seriously and transparently with customers and suppliers, and protecting the planet’s natural resources and climate for future generations.”
There is no environmental sustainability without social sustainability first!
